Where creativity meets clarity, and vision meets action.

Chrissy has been a professional journalist for three years, but her love for writing, creative direction, and digital production began much earlier.

Who is Chrissy?

Chrissy Booker is a Portland-based journalist, writer, digital producer, and creative. She is passionate about fair, balanced journalism, creative writing, and self-expression through art.

Chrissy began her career at The Columbian as a Charles Snowden intern. Her work at The Columbian has been published in The Seattle Times, The Spokesman Review, the Tacoma News Tribune, and more.

Before joining The Columbian, she created an arts and culture magazine called Labyrinth, tutored journalism students at the University of Oregon’s Writing Central, and served as the 2023 editor-in-chief of Black Student Magazine at Journalistic Learning Initiative.

She received the 2023 Mentorship Award from the Journalistic Learning Initiative for the guidance she provided to emerging journalists at Black Student Magazine.

When Chrissy isn’t writing, she’s reading books by some of her favorite authors, including James Baldwin, Caleb Azumah Nelson, Ocean Vuong, and Octavia E. Butler. She’s also writing poetry, drinking coffee, traveling the world, exploring the hidden gems of Portland, and making music with her dad.

Chrissy founded an arts and culture magazine called Labyrinth in 2021.

The first page of Labyrinth, written by Chrissy, tells the story of her youth.
